Associate Vice President and Dean of International Programs Meredith McQuaid recently announced the appointment of Joan Brzezinski to the position of interim director of the China Center at the University of Minnesota. She will lead the China Center until a permanent director is named while maintaining her position of director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Minnesota.

“Joan Brzezinski has been instrumental in developing and growing many of the University's relationships in China and with the Chinese community in Minnesota over the past 13 years,” said McQuaid. “She is a strong leader and will serve the China Center well during this transition time.”

This is the third time Brzezinski has taken on this role in her 13 years at the University. She fills the position left vacant with the departure of Yongwei Zhang who left the University to take a position with Rutgers University in New Jersey.
