The Mingda Institute for Leadership Training program hosted four delegations during summer 2013. First, the Mingda Institute staff welcomed a group of 20 students from Beijing No. 4 High School. They were accompanied by four teachers and attended a three-week Youth Leadership Summer Camp developed by the Mingda Institute staff. During the program, the students polished their English language skills, learned about American culture, experienced university life, and improved their leadership and teamwork skills.
Following the youth program, a delegation from Henan Polytechnic University, located in Jiaozuo City of Henan Province, returned for a second year to participate in a three-week Higher Education Administration Training Program. The delegation was made up of 19 mid-level administrators. The third training group to come through the Mingda Institute this summer was from Tianjin University of Sport, with whom the University of Minnesota runs the American Sports Culture Center in Tianjin. Fifteen administrators participated in the program that featured both general topics on higher education administration and sports program management.
Finally, a long-time partner of the Mingda Institute returned for the fourth year in a row. The Central University of Finance and Economics (CUFE) sent a delegation of administrators for training in higher education administration. CUFE reports that the partnership with the Mingda Institute these past four years has enhanced the institute’s internationalization and reform endeavors.
The Mingda Institute expects several training delegations for fall semester. The first of the groups just completed its first program in healthcare management with the Beijing-based Board Healthcare Consulting Company.
