The National Committee on U.S. - China Relations' 2015 CHINA Town Hall (Broadcast and Panel)

The ninth annual CHINA Town Hall: Local Connections, National Reflections was held on Monday, October 5, 2015. The event, a national day of programming organized by the National Committee on U.S. - China Relations, was designed to provide Americans in more than 70 cities across the United States and beyond the opportunity to discuss Sino-U.S. issues with leading experts. The event was locally hosted by the University of Minnesota China Center and included a panel of on-site speakers addressing topics related to the evening's theme 'New Neighbors: Chinese Foreign Direct Investment in the United States.'

Speakers for the live webcast panel based in Washington. D.C. included Robert Rubin, Secretary of the Treasury under President Bill Clinton; Sheldon Day, Mayor, Thomasville, Alabama; Daniel Rosen, Founding Partner, Rhodium Group; and Stephen Orlins, President, National Committee on U.S.-China Relations.

Next, on-site speaker Allen Barber, President of Denver-Hainan Corporation, delivered his speech “What Can We Learn from Denver and its Chinese FDI."

The event concluded with an on-site panel discussion and Q&A with Ruilin Li, Fredrikson & Byron P.A.; Mickayla Zinsli, Director of North Dakota/Minnesota EB5 Regional Center; Louis Lau, Vice President in Asian Business Development, Triple Five Group (Mall of America); and Laurence Reszetar, Director of Office of Foreign Direct Investment, Minnesota Trade Office.
