Outreach to the local community is a pillar of the China Center's mission. Through public events and other local engagement, the China Center shares knowledge about China and Chinese culture and builds U.S-China bridges across the state.

Community Engagement

China Center Events

The China Center hosts and co-sponsors a variety of events throughout the year, including the annual Bob and Kim Griffin Building U.S.-China Bridges Lecture. Check our calendar for upcoming events, or sign up for our mailing list to receive invitations.

Resources for Travel to China

The China Center maintains a list of University of Minnesota and community resources that may be helpful in planning a trip to Greater China.

Community Chinese Language Classes

The Confucius Institute at the University of Minnesota offers seven levels of Chinese language classes to the general public—from Beginning Chinese 1 to Chinese Rehab, a conversation class for advanced students. The Confucius Institute's Resource Center also stocks a range of travel, phrasebooks, and other China-related materials.

Translation

The China Center does not provide translation services to the general public; however, the Minnesota Trade Office maintains a list of translation companies for hire in Minnesota.
