Mingda Institute History

From 2001 to 2021, the China Center's Mingda Institute for Leadership Training provided high-quality training and development programs for professionals from China.

We are proud of the 20-year history of the Mingda Institute and the relationships we built with thousands of trainees from China and their host organizations. Mingda programs delivered meaningful and relevant education and training, and created connections between the University, the State of Minnesota, Minnesota businesses, and Chinese professionals.

Mingda programs benefited from the expertise and support of hundreds of University faculty and staff at all five of our campuses who embraced our programs and looked forward to exchanging ideas with our Chinese colleagues. Long-standing partners include the Center for Educational Innovation, School of Public Health, School of Nursing, Masonic Children’s Hospital, Humphrey School of Public Affairs, College of Education and Human Development, Department of Aeronautical Engineering, Law School, St. Anthony Falls Lab, and many more.

We greatly appreciate the support from local companies such as Medtronic, Cargill, 3M, Best Buy; Minnesota state agencies including Health, Agriculture, Trade, and Education; and many public schools and universities. Their engagement helped connect trainees to Minnesota’s vibrant communities and civic pursuits.

We thank our dedicated Mingda Institute staff over the years for their care and attention to offering high-quality programs and providing a personal, individualized experience for trainees.
