Beijing Xicheng Education Commission Integrated Skills in Curriculum Innovation Training Program

-

As a part of the curriculum innovation process in primary and secondary schools, Beijing Xicheng Commission of Education selected 25 experienced senior teachers and principals from various primary and secondary schools in Xicheng District to visit the University of Minnesota for an intensive three-week training program focused on primary/secondary school management, different concepts of teaching methods between the US and China in many disciplines, and professional development approaches in the US primary/secondary schools.

The delegation was on the U of M campus from November 8th to November 27th. While in Minnesota, the training delegation members were instructed by faculty and staff who were practitioners in this specific area and who were excellent at their daily jobs. The U of M China Center was delighted that we were able to invite principals from local primary/secondary schools to present for this delegation. Principals from Minnetonka High School, St. Anthony Middle School, and Yinghua Academy not only talked about their experience but also led the delegation to their schools to experience directly. The delegates had chance to compare the US public and private school systems and were impressed by the capacity of American students during the school visit.
