Education for a Global Citizen Training Program

-

The Education for a Global Citizen (EFGC) Program welcomed its third cohort of Chinese undergraduate students to the University of Minnesota in January 2015. Participants in the four-month program were from Chongqing Jiaotong University, Qingdao University, Sichuan University, and Chongqing Normal University.

The China Center selected courses that would help visiting students develop a better understanding of the qualities required to become a global citizen and to thrive in a U.S. university. Selected courses included Academic Writing Skills, Academic Presentation Skills, and American Culture, Education, and Society. Students also participated in lectures and campus visits, including trips to the University of Minnesota-Duluth and the Raptor Center.

During the program, half of the participating students experienced campus life by living in on-campus apartments, while other students lived with American host families and enjoyed activities with them including rock climbing, hiking, and archery.
