Guangzhou Huadu Education Bureau selected 20 experienced senior teachers and principals from various primary and secondary schools in Huadu District to visit the University of Minnesota for an advanced training program. The delegation, which focused on primary and secondary school management, institutional leadership training, and class observations, was held from November 29 to December 9, 2015.
While in Minnesota, the delegation was instructed by U of M faculty and staff about institutional leadership, U.S. primary and secondary schools, and special education in Minnesota. Delegation members were also able to visit many local primary and secondary schools to observe classes, and obtain materials related to mathematics, English literature, and science. One delegate even instruct a Chinese class about Monkey King at an immersion school, allowing American teachers to see a different style of teaching firsthand.
The training delegation members were satisfied with the well-designed courses, school visits, and other arrangements arranged by the U of M China Center. Minnesota's snowy weather was also attractive to the training delegates from Southern China, where it rarely snows.
