Henan Polytechnic University (HPU) has been interested in international exchange and internationalization since the 1980s, when the school began establishing sister-school relationships with colleges and universities in 15 countries. The cooperation between HPU and the China Center started in 2012.
On August 2, 2015, the fourth cohort from HPU arrived at the University of Minnesota for a two-week training program on higher education policy and administration. The delegation enjoyed a series of customized lectures on chief differences between the U.S. and Chinese higher education systems which were given by distinguished University faculty and staff. Mingda Training Program staff also accompanied the delegation on visits to other higher education institutions in the region, where delegates explored different models of developing campus internationalization in both private schools and liberal arts colleges.
