On September 18th, the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum’s new Chinese Garden opened to the public with a ribbon cutting & toast, followed by a concert in MacMillan Auditorium by musicians from the Shaanxi Provincial Folk Music Orchestra. The Arboretum’s Chinese Garden was made possible by a joint effort of the Chinese-American community in Minnesota, many generous supporters, the University of Minnesota and the government of Shaanxi Province. The Chinese Garden will be a place that will welcome, inform and inspire visitors of the good will that exists between the sister states of Shaanxi and Minnesota and will showcase plants that are native to China which Minnesota residents my wish to incorporate into their own gardens.
