Chen Hong-Yu, who was born in Jiangyin, Jiangsu province, graduated from the College of Agriculture at the University of Nanjing in 1934. He then received a master’s degree and doctorate degree from the University of Minnesota in agronomy and plant genetics in 1938 and 1940, respectively.
Upon returning to China, Chen successively served at the Eastern China Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Water Resources, Ministry of Agriculture, Seed Management, and Department of Agriculture in Fujian province. He also served as the first deputy chair on the board for the Fujian Society of Agriculture. Chen was selected as a representative of the 3rd National People’s Congress and the 5th and 6th Chinese People’s Political Consultative.
Chen has published two books “Crop Production Science and Purification” and “Regeneration of Fine Varieties of Seed.” Chen was also an editor for the publication “Improved Varieties of Rice.”
陈鸿佑,生于江苏江阴,1934年毕业于金陵大学农学院农艺系,并分别于1938年和1940年获得明尼苏达大学农学和植物基因学硕士和博士学位。
回国后,历任职于华东农林水利部、农业部、种子管理局、福建省农业厅等。此外陈鸿佑还曾担任福建省农学会第一届副理事长、第三届全国人大代表、第五、六届全国政协委员。
陈鸿佑著有《作物生产通论》和《提纯复壮繁育良种》,并主编有《水稻优良品种》。
