Cheng-Khee Chee, born in Fujian, immigrated to Malaysia in 1948. He graduated from Nanyang University in 1960 and received a master of arts in library science from the University of Minnesota in 1964. After graduation, Chee started teaching at the University till his retirement in 1994.
Chee is one of the most accomplished watercolor artists in the United States. He is a Dolphin Fellow of the American Watercolor Society, signature member of the National Watercolor Society, Transparent Watercolor Society of America, and Watercolor USA Honor Society, etc. He is listed in Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Art, Who’s Who in American Education, and Dictionary of World Chinese Artists Achievements. Chee has been represented in numerous national juried exhibitions and received more than 200 honors, including the American Watercolor Society Silver Medal, Allied Artists of America Gold Medal, and Transparent Watercolor Society of America Skyledge Award First Place, etc.
Chee has many publications among which Old Turtle, an illustration published in 1992, was one of the best-selling illustrations in the U.S. during the year of its publication.
In addition to teaching and artistic creation, Chee has made tremendous efforts to promote international exchanges of arts. After the opening-up of China, he organized a delegation from the University of Minnesota to China, and established the exchange academic program between the Duluth Campus of the University and Chinese Academy of Art.
Furthermore, Chee has received many honors for his teaching and community services, including Distinguished Teaching Award from the University of Minnesota, and the 1994 University of Minnesota, Duluth Campus Chancellor’s Distinguished Services Award. In 1994, he was honored as Duluth’s Cultural Ambassador to the World by Mayor of Duluth. In 1998, College of Art at Duluth Campus of the University of Minnesota established Cheng-Khee Chee Scholarship to recognize his outstanding contributions to the college.

徐靖沂,生于福建省,1948年移居马来西亚。1960年毕业于新加坡南洋大学。1964年于明尼苏达大学获得图书馆科学专业硕士学位。毕业后,徐靖沂留校任教直到1994年退休。
徐靖沂教授是美国当代杰出的水彩画家之一,他是美国水彩画会海豚会成员,同时也是美国透明水彩画会和美国水彩荣誉画会等成员。他的小传被列入《美国名人录》,《美国艺术家名人录》,《美国教育家名人录》,《世界华人艺术家成就博览大典》和《儿童图书作家和插图家名录》。
徐靖沂教授曾举办过多次全国性画展并共获得过两百多个奖项,其中包括美国水彩画会年展银牌奖、美国美术家联盟年展金牌奖和美国透明水彩画会年展第一名等等。
徐教授出版了很多著作,其中1992年的儿童图书《老乌龟》是美国当年最畅销的儿童图书之一。
除了教学和创作之外,徐教授对推动国际艺术交流不遗余力。中国开放后他争取机会在1982年组织明尼苏达大学美术工艺参观团去中国,并成立了明尼苏达大学杜鲁斯分校与中国美术学院的学术交流项目。
此外,徐教授还获得过教学和社区服务方面的奖项,其中包括明尼苏达大学进修学院院长授予的杰出教学奖、明尼苏达大学杜鲁斯分校的杰出服务奖、杜鲁斯市市长授予的杜鲁斯市荣誉奖牌和世界文化大使的荣誉。1998年明尼苏达大学杜鲁斯分校艺术学院设立徐靖沂奖学金,以此纪念他对学院的杰出贡献。
