Hsu Ke-Chin, who was born in 1907, graduated from National Central University with a bachelor’s degree in geology in 1934. Hsu enrolled at the University of Minnesota in 1939 and received a master’s degree and a doctorate degree in geology in 1941 and 1944, respectively.
Beginning in 1946, Hsu served as a professor in geology at National Central University and as dean of the Department of Geology. In addition, Hsu was elected as a representative of the People’s Congress in Jiangsu and as a member of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Committee in Jiangsu province. He served as the deputy executive director and honorary board member at both the Chinese Geology Society and the Chinese Society for Mineralogy, Petrology and Geochemistry. Hsu was a member of both the Chinese committee of International Geological Correlation Programs and the Chinese committee of International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics. In 1995, Hsu received the prize for Scientific and Technological Achievements from the Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation.
He made great contributions to Chinese geology and was one of the pioneers in the granitoid research in southern China. In 1980, Hsu was elected to be an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
徐克勤,生于1907年,1934年毕业于国立中央大学地质系。1939年徐克勤来到明尼苏达大学并分别于1941年和1944年获地质学专业硕士和博士学位。
自1946年起,徐克勤任国立中央大学理学院地质系教授并兼任系主任。此外,徐克勤先后当选江苏省人大代表,江苏省政协委员,中国地质学会副理事长及名誉理事,中国矿物岩石地球化学学会副理事长及荣誉理事,国际地质对比计划中国委员会委员,国际地质物理与大地测量联合会中国委员会委员 。1995年获何梁何利基金科学与技术进步奖。
徐克勤为我国的地质事业做出了杰出贡献。他是华南花岗岩类研究的开拓者之一。1980年,徐克勤当选为中国科学院院士。
