Lin Changshan 林昌善

Ph.D., Entomology, 1951

Lin Changshan, born in Fujian, received a master of science in 1938 from Department of Biology at Yanjing University. Then he taught successively at Yanjing University, University of China, and Fu Jen Catholic University. In 1951, Lin received a doctoral degree in entomology from the University of Minnesota.

After returning to China, Lin served as a professor and dean at Yanjing University first and then Beijing University.

In addition, Lin served as the president of Beijing Entomological Society, China Zoological Society, Entomological Society of China, and Ecological Society of China.

Lin’s research in the occurring theory of army worms and its application received a second prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award. In 1989, Lin published his book “Environmental Biology” which was used widely as a college textbook.

林昌善,福建人,1938年获燕京大学生物系理学硕士学位。 先后任教于燕京大学、中国大学及辅仁大学。1951年获得明尼苏达大学农学院昆虫学专业哲学博士学位。

毕业回国后,林昌善先后任教于燕京大学和北京大学,并担任生物系系主任。

此外,林昌善还曾担任北京昆虫学会、中国动物学会、中国昆虫学会和中国生态学学会理事长。

林昌善在粘虫发生规律的理论及其应用的研究项目于1985年获得国家教委科技进步奖二等奖。林昌善于1989年出版了《环境生物学》一书,曾作为大学教材。
