Lo Teng-Yi 罗登义

Lo Teng-Yi, born in 1906 in Guiyang, Guizhou province, graduated from Department of Agricultural Chemistry at Beijing Normal University in 1928. In 1935, Lo was enrolled in the University of Minnesota and received a master’s degree in agricultural biochemistry in 1937.

After returning to China, Lo taught successively at Beijing University, North-west Agriculture University, and Zhejiang University. Lo served as a professor and dean at College of Agriculture at Guizhou University. After the establishment of People’s Republic of China, Lo served as the president of Guizhou Agriculture University, a member of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th Chinese People’s Political Consultative Committee in Guizhou and its vice chairman, a representative of the People’s Congress for many years in Guizhou and deputy director of its standing committee, a representative of National People’s Congress. Lo also served the vice director-general of the Department of Agriculture in Guizhou, a board member of Chinese Chemical Society, a board member of Chinese Agricultural Society and Chinese Society of Biochemistry, chair for the boards of Guizhou Agricultural Society and Guizhou Society of Biochemistry, vice director of science committee in Guizhou, dean of the Guizhou branch of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, an academic committee member of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences. Lo also served as an honorary president at Guizhou University after 1997.

罗登义,1906年生于贵州省贵阳市,1928年毕业于北平师范大学农业化学系。1935年,罗登义来到明尼苏达大学并于1937年获得农业生物化学硕士学位。

回国后,罗登义先后任教于北京大学、西北农学院、浙江大学等。1947年任贵州大学农学院教授兼院长。建国后,历任贵州农学院院长,贵州省第一、二、三、四、五届政协委员,贵州省历届人民代表大会代表,贵州省人大常委会副主任,贵州省政协副主席;全国人民代表大会代表;贵州省农业厅副厅长;中国化学会理事;中国农学会理事及贵州农学会理事长;贵州省科委副主任;中国科学院贵州分院院长;中国农业科学院学术委员;中国生物化学学会理事;贵州生物化学学会理事长以及1997年新组建后的贵州大学名誉校长等职。
