Lu Ho-Shen 卢鹤绅

Lu Ho-Shen was born in 1917 in the U.S. state of Indiana and returned to China with his parents when he was a child. In 1936 Lu, along with his brother Hoff Lu, enrolled at the University of Minnesota. He received his bachelor’s degree in 1939 and a master of science in 1941 in aeronautical engineering.

From 1941 to 1943, Lu worked as an engineer at Curtiss Airplane Company in Buffalo, New York. For the next 19 years Lu worked as a senior engineer for Republic Aviation in Long Island, New York.

From 1964-1987, he was the director at Gumman Corporation before retiring in 1987. Lu made significant contributions to the development of aeronautical technology and conducted the initial design of F14 Tomcat, a supersonic fighter aircraft developed for the U.S. Navy. He played important roles in the design of many other designs including the P40, P47, F84, F84P, F103, F105, F111B, and Rainbow passenger aircraft.

卢鹤绅,卢鹤绂之弟,1917年生于美国印第安纳州,幼年时随父母回中国,主要居住在山东济南和东北沈阳。1936年,卢鹤绅随哥哥卢鹤绂来到明尼苏达大学学习航空工程学,于1939年获得学士学位,1941年获得硕士学位。

自1940年起,卢鹤绅先后担任纽约野牛城克替斯飞机厂工程师(1940-1943),纽约长岛共和飞机厂高级工程师及空动力系主任(1943-1964),和哥鲁门公司高级工程师(1964-1987)。卢鹤绅为航空技术的发展做出了重要贡献。他是F14雄猫战斗机的初步设计者,还参与设计过 P40, P47, F84, F84P, F103, F105, F111B,和彩虹客机。
