Fai-Nan Perng, who was born in 1939 in Taiwan, received his bachelor’s degree in economics from National Chung Hsing University in 1962, and master’s degree in economics from the University of Minnesota in 1971. He received an honorary doctorate of law from the University of Minnesota in 2006.
Perng has served as governor of Central Bank in Taiwan since 1998. Before that he worked as director general of the Economic Research Department and director general of the Foreign Exchange Department at Central Bank in Taiwan. In 2000, he represented Taiwan at the 8th unofficial Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation economic leaders conference.He was listed in Global Finance magazine as one of the “World’s Top Bankers” and is the first central bank chief to receive a grade A for the 10th time since 2000 (as of 2013).His organization was named “Central Bank of the Year” in Asia in 2009, recognizing his prompt reaction to the global financial crisis in 2008.
He received the University of Minnesota Outstanding Achievement Award in 2000 and has served as president of University of Minnesota Alumni Association-Taiwan Chapter.

彭淮南,1939年出生于台湾,1962年毕业于国立中兴大学经济系,1971年获得美国明尼苏达大学,经济学硕士学位。2006年他获得美国明尼苏达大学授予的荣誉法学博士学位。
作为经济学家,彭淮南博士自1998年起任台湾中央银行总裁至今。此前他先后担任台湾中央银行经济研究处主任、中央银行外汇局局长、中央银行副总裁等职。2000年,彭淮南曾代表台湾出席APEC第八次非正式经济领袖会议。自2000年起,他曾经十次被全球金融杂志Global Finance评为年度A级总裁。在他的领导下,台湾中央银行捍卫台湾安然度过2008年国际金融风暴,成为亚洲经济率先复苏的地区之一。 2009年《银行家杂志》 把亚洲最佳央行总裁奖颁给了彭淮南。
2000年彭淮南获明尼苏达大学颁发的杰出成就奖章。他还曾担任明尼苏达大学台北校友会会长。
