Born and raised in Tianjin, China, Meng Tang currently works as a media artist, curator, and art educator. After earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Beijing Film Academy in 1996, and a Master’s degree in Media Art from New York University in 2006, Tang earned a Master of Fine Arts degree in New Media Arts from the University of Minnesota in 2010, becoming the first Chinese national to earn an M.F.A. degree from the University of Minnesota.
Having served for more than ten years on the faculty of the Beijing Film Academy, Tang is now a lecturer in the University of Minnesota’s Department of Art, for whom she teaches media-art and art-history courses.
Tang’s life has given her extensive experience in dealing with the cultural differences that inspire much of her work. As an artist, she works in a wide variety of media – including film, video installation, photography, sculpture, and performance art.
Tang’s art has been exhibited in national and international venues, including the Kobe Biennale in Japan, the Chengdu Biennale in China, and the Pingyao International Photography Festival in China. Her art has also been collected by many public and private collectors in the U.S. and Asia.
Tang has curated a number of international art exhibitions, including The Rule of Art (Beijing Korean Center, 2009), The Abstract Truth (Beijing 798, 2009), Boundary: Life or Art (Museum of Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts, 2013), and Ink: Zen or Revolution (Minneapolis, 2014).
Tang also has published a translated book, five catalogs, and numerous articles on contemporary art and film. In 2011, she was named an “Artist to Watch” by Minnesota Monthly. She was also featured in a lengthy article in Rain Taxi Magazine. Tang is currently Vice-President of the International Association of Female Artists (IAFA).
唐梦,艺术家，生于中国天津。唐梦1996年获得北京电影学院摄影系电影学士学位，2006年获美国纽约大学文学艺术硕士学位，2010年获美国明尼苏达大学艺术创作硕士学位，成为明尼苏达大学艺术系有史以来第一个获得艺术创作硕士的华人。
唐梦曾长期执教于北京电影学院摄影系。现任美国明尼苏达大学艺术系讲师,讲授艺术创作和艺术史课程。她个人跨文化的生活经历给了她丰富的创作灵感。作为一个艺术家，她的创作领域包括电影，影像装置，摄影，雕塑和行为艺术等。她的作品多年来被选入国际和国内的许多展览包括日本神户双年展，成都双年展，平遥国际摄影节等，并被美国和亚洲等地的专业收藏家和美术馆所收藏。近年来，她在美中两地策划了很多艺术展览和文化活动，包括“艺术的法则”中美韩多媒体艺术展 （2009年北京韩国文化院）,“边界－生活还是艺术”美中新媒体展 （2013年天津美术学院美术馆），“水墨：禅或革命”中国水墨展（2014年美国明尼苏达大学奈什美术馆）等。
唐梦现已出版了一本翻译著作和五本艺术展画册，发表了多篇关于当代艺术和电影的文章。2011年唐梦被美国《明尼苏达月刊》评选为“最值得关注的艺术家”之一。美国独立艺术杂志《雨的士》在2011年发表长篇专文介绍她的艺术实践。唐梦目前担任国际女艺术家协会副会长。
