Yum Tong Siu 萧荫堂

Yum Tong Siu, who was born in 1943 in Guangzhou, received a bachelor of arts in mathematics from the University of Hong Kong, a master of arts in mathematics from the University of Minnesota in 1963, and a doctoral degree from Princeton University.

Siu started his academic career as an assistant professor at Purdue and Notre Dame, later becoming a professor at Yale University and Stanford University. He became the William Elwood Byerly Professor of Mathematics at Harvard University in 1982. Siu was elected as a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 1998, U.S. National Academy of Sciences in 2002, and a Foreign Member of the Chinese Academy of Science and an Academia Sinica Taiwan in 2004.

萧荫堂博士1943年出生于中国广州,1963年获得香港大学学士学位,1964年获得明尼苏达大学硕士学位,1966年获得普林斯顿大学博士学位。

毕业后,萧博士先后在普渡大学和圣母大学担任助理教授,在耶鲁大学和斯坦福大学担任教授,1982年起担任哈佛大学数学系教授。

萧荫堂1998年被评为美国文理科学院院士,2002年被评为美国国家科学院院士,2004年被评为中国科学院外籍院士和台湾中央研究院院士。
