How to Apply

A completed application includes a completed exchange application form (below), plus the following uploaded documents:

  • Faculty reference letters (2)

  • Study plan

  • Personal statement

  • Current unofficial transcript

Faculty Reference Letters (2)

The letters should address:

  • How the applicant's academic/professional ability compares with others at similar stages in their careers
  • How the applicant's personal characteristics will enable him/her to successfully complete an academic year in China
  • Additional information that will assist in the evaulation of the applicant
Study Plan

Upload a 3-page (maximum), double-spaced essay with 1 inch margins and 12 pt font. Study plans that do not follow formatting or length requirements will not be accepted.  

Your essay must answer the following questions. Be as specific as possible. 

  1. Explain in detail your study plan in China. 
  2. Describe an international or multicultural experience(s) you have had and explain how it has helped prepare you for your immersion into Chinese culture. 
  3. How will your experience in China help you accomplish your academic, personal, and/or career goals? 
Personal Statement of Purpose

Upload a 2-page (maximum), double-spaced essay with 1 inch margins and 12 pt font. The review committee will use this portion of the application to gain an understanding of your interest in Chinese people, culture, and affairs through your desire to study abroad there. The content is up to you, but we recommend writing about how your goals and aspirations during your time in China will set you apart from other candidates applying for these exchange program opportunities.
