Dr. Ann Waltner is a Professor in the Department of History at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities College of Liberal Arts, where she specializes in Chinese history. Waltner formerly served as founding director of the University’s Institute for Advanced Study, and has served as editor of the Journal of Asian Studies. She has published widely in both Chinese history and world history. Most recently, she has completed an open access online course on Dream of the Red Chamber in conjunction with the San Francisco Opera. In 2014, she received the President’s Award for Outstanding Service at the University of Minnesota.
