On December 7, faculty and staff from Xi’An Polytechnic University completed their two-week training with Mingda Institute of Leadership Training on Advanced Administration for Academic Affairs. The 14 delegates consisted of deans from various schools and key administrative staff at the university.
The Mingda Institute for Leadership Training and the Center for Educational Innovation at the University of Minnesota collaborated in designing the curriculum. The courses included “Teachers Recruitment, Evaluation, and Promotions in American Research Universities”, Innovation in the 21st Century”, “How American Universities Successfully Manage Academic Affairs and Become Student-focused”, etc. The delegation also met with University of Minnesota students to learn about their student life in Minnesota. The China Center organized various meetings with deans of the Carlson School of Management, College of Liberal Arts, and the College of Science and Engineering to talk about possibilities of future collaboration.
