Xi’an Polytechnic University Higher Education Training Program

-

Xi’an Polytechnic University, founded in 1912, consists of 11 schools and 2 teaching departments with an enrollment of over 22,000 students. The faculty and staff are always seeking ways to improve campus internationalization. They host many visiting scholars from Europe, U.S., and Asia for academic exchanges. The university has also successfully held international conferences such as the 1st and 2nd International Wool Conference and The 6th China International Warp Knitting Design Awards.

To advance campus internationalization, Xi’an Polytechnic University sent a group of core faculty members and administrators to the University of Minnesota for a training focusing on knowledge integration on learning, research, and application from February 14 to 26, 2016. This program was a two-week intensive training to help these delegates understand the excellence of the U.S. higher education system. They also learned about technology transfer and moving research into for-profit products. The delegation met with UMN faculty members who have many patents and could explain the process of technology commercialization to the delegates. UMN administrators also presented to the delegation about research management, finance-based management, and other relevant management skills.
