Plant Physiology and Genetics, 1930
Jin Shanbao, who was born in 1895 in Zhuji, Zhejiang Province, graduated in 1927 from Huadong University with a degree in agronomy. He came to the U.S. in 1930 to further his study in plant physiology and genetics at Cornell University and the University of Minnesota. During a 1995 interview with the then 101-year-old alumnus, he said he decided to attend the University of Minnesota because of its excellent reputation.
Upon returning to China in 1932, Jin taught at several universities, became the vice mayor of the city of Nanjing, and served as president of the Academy of Agricultural Sciences, among other distinguished appointments. He was a leading agricultural scientist and made important contributions to the study of wheat. In 1955 he was elected to be an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

金善宝， 1895年出生于浙江省诸暨市，1927年毕业于华东大学，获农艺学学位。1930年，他来到美国康奈尔大学农学院和明尼苏达大学农学院进修，研究植物生理学和遗传学。据1995年对这位当时已有101岁高龄老校友的采访记载，金善宝讲述自己是因为明尼苏达大学的著名国际声誉而决定来此求学深造。
1932年返回中国后，金善宝在多所高校任教，新中国成立后，曾出任南京大学农学院（今南京农业大学）院长。金善宝于1955年当选为中国科学院院士，1957年担任中国农业科学院院长。他被公认为中国农业教育家和现代小麦科学的主要奠基人，1986曾获得“美国农业服务基金会永久荣誉会员”奖牌获得者。
